Today, July 1st was the official opening of the Cafe in the Coach house and the new Play area on the fields. As is with all official openings we had a couple of celebs to do the honers, the local MP and the Mayor, by unveiling a couple of plaques. Little did I know that the trustees had lined up a little surprise in the shape of another plaque which their Chairman whipped out of a plastic bag whilst the guests were enjoying the buffet lunch.
When he made his little speech at the unveiling of the coach house plaque, I noticed that he had made a reference to the community room, once known as the live room when it was the studio. Said it was a bit of a nondescript name, which I thought, fleetingly was an odd thing to say in a speech. But all became clear when he sprang his surprise a little later.
Both Jackie and I were taken aback, to say the least. Fancy getting a room named after you, bit like John Lennon airport, only perhaps a little less grand, but non the less an amazing recognition of our ten years at Ford Park.
So that's a little job for next week, hanging our very own Plaque in our venue, and a lasting legacy for the future users of the community centre that we were a small part of making it all happen.
Come on Colin, You must still have some thoughts even if you're no longer a councillor . . . and now have a plaque.

Perhaps you could compose a song with these sounds as the lyrics.
